Position Summary and Duties

The Assistant Coach, Rowing will work in conjunction with the Head Coach, Rowing to effectively run the Rowing program. Assist the head coach with on and off water coaching of team, including practice planning and implementation, individual and team coaching, other coaching duties as assigned.

Promote a competitive and professional team culture. Assist the Head Coach and Assistant Coach in the daily coaching of practice. Instruct student-athletes in the technical aspects of the rowing stroke. Assist in implementation of team training plan. Provide student-athletes with safe instruction and focus on risk mitigation in small boat scenarios. Travel with team for competitions and training camps. Collaborate with fellow coaches on lineup decisions.

Other duties may be assigned to meet the goals and mission requirements of the department.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.
Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge of NCAA and Patriot League rules and regulations.
Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid Certification.
2-4 Years of competitive coaching or collegiate rowing experience
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong computer and organizational skills.
Must be able to demonstrate sport specific activities.
Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to travel.
Must be able to work weekends and evenings.
Must be able to successfully complete driver’s clearance process.
Ability to support the mission and values of a Catholic Jesuit education, as well as University goals for institutional diversity.

Preferred Qualifications

US Rowing Level 2 Certification is preferred
Maryland Safe Boating Certification
